Mama [PNW]

My mother was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, growing up on the shores of a small lake. The lake is surrounded by a forest of tall, rich trees that possess a sort of magic. The smell, the look, the sounds; all together enchanting. When I moved to a small town in Idaho, we happened upon the only other place on earth that reminded me of my mom’s place of childhood. I visited this spot countless times over the 3 years we lived there, perhaps because I missed my mom so much that I sought out reminders of her. When she came to visit, I knew I had to take her here and see if it reminded her of the same place it always brought me back to. It did, and the joy on her face in these photos is of someone who was taken back to where her story began: the Pacific Northwest.

These photos were taken at Idler’s Rest outside of Moscow, Idaho, in 2018.
