A Guest Room in Moscow
A dream of mine has always been to have a safe and comfortable space for guests to stay in our home. I know the importance of finding solitude at the end of a day full of social interaction. Almost every home we’ve lived in has had a guest room and I have had the joy of redecorating each one with meaningful pieces I’ve collected over the years.
This was our guest room in Moscow, Idaho, a place we called home for 3 years.
This room was full of sunshine and made my heart skip a beat when I would walk by.
Upon the passing of my grandmother Elwy, I gratefully acquired one of her many decorative trays. It is a beautiful reminder of her that has joined us in different states over the years.
I love displaying old family photos. My mother’s kindergarten photo is shown here along with her parents soon after they met. I have been collecting pineapples for years as they are a symbol of “Southern hospitality”.
I like to collect items with meaning, history, texture, color. This refurbished antique dresser is one of my favorite finds to date, just like this photo of my grandmother.
My great-grandmother whom I never had the honor of meeting knitted these hangers. They are a tangible reminder of the only part of her I know; the stories that remain.
The final touch in a lovely guest room…fresh flowers.
