St. Ignatius Mission
The St. Ignatius Mission Parish, located at the base of the Mission Mountains, was built between 1891 and 1893. The mission now lives on the National Register of Historical Places. It is lovely and those who built and protected its walls seem almost tangible. The air is thick with souls past, the smell of old hym books, and the hardship of what was and what would never be.
Most memorable moments - noticing my mom and son sitting in a pew, talking about hyms, God, and ancestors long gone. The other was leaving the church and walking down the stairs to hear a nearby woman singing beautifully, but never seeing her.
